My third attempt at my first blog!

Well, already I have messed up. My blog did not post and I immediately got a knot in my stomach knowing that I had to face my computer. This is my greatest concern with this class because I am so intimidated by the computer that when I bought my "opponent", I literally left it in the box for almost two weeks! I had this fear that while I was gone from home, it would be turning my lights on and off, answering my phone, planning diabolical methods of torture for me when I attempted to Yahoo or Google. Honestly, when I did finally did take it out of the box and called to set up my account with my server, when they asked me a question that involved opening my lap top, I could not figure out how to open it! All I could get it to do was open the side disc player. In desperation, I went to my neighbor's and told him that I had an emergency, (I was too embarrassed to tell him the truth). He opened it for me and rolling his eyes, slithered from my home and I was left staring at my nemesis who had won the first of our many battles. Therefore, I am always tempted to sign up for Special Accomodations with any class that involves using a computer.

Now that I have bared my soul, I am so looking forward to seeing all of you, (love Dr. Brown's new look, don't you?), and reading some good books. Nothing like lying on the beach and reading some Go Dog Go and The Hungry Caterpillar. I am kidding!!!!! Really though, I have always read books to my child and even though we read Goodnight Moon 527 times, he still turned the pages like it was the first time. There is something about a child's anticipation to see what will happen on the next page. Aren't we the same when we find that great read or feel that sense of accomplishment when we have written that perfect paper, print it, and proudly hand it to our professor like we are giving them a Christmas present, (and praying they love it!).

I want my students of someday to enjoy reading not just cyberlit, but the old leather bound classics that can be held in their hands, not just sit at a computer alone in their room, but wander aimlessly through a book store smelling the delicious scent of new and old books. If I can impart the desire of any child to begin this literary journey, then I will die a fulfilled person.
Truly, to teach a child to read and write is the greatest gift and I look forward to enhancing my ability to do just that in this class.

If only I did not have to touch a computer.....
